Obituary of Duane M. Ewing

Of Millington, age 77, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Duane's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.Those desiring may consider memorial contribution to a charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Duane was born May 11, 1935, in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Laura (Hafford) Ewing. He and Marie R. Driscoll were united in marriage, December 12, 1955, in Randolph, Massachusetts. Sadly she preceded him in death on November 6, 2012. Duane proudly served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S Forrest Royal 872 for 4 years before earning his honorable discharge on May 7, 1956. He worked for Eaton/Grede Foundry in Vassar for 30 years before retiring in 1987. Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, traveling and going to the casino. Left to cherish his memory, 6 children; Douglas (Marlene) Ewing, Norman (Jody) Ewing, Mark Ewing, Sharon (John) Lovelady, Darlene Palmerton, Glen Ewing; 15 grandchildren; Tiffany Ewing, April (Mitch) Earhardt, David Palmerton, Devon Ewing, Kyle (Jane) Ewing, Nick (Teran) Ewing, Johnny Lovelady, Amber Palmerton, Timmy Lovelady, Ricky Lovelady, Jennifer (Shane) Bock, Jonathon Buella, Natasha, Brandy and Jessie Gibisas; 13 great-grandchildren; Joseph, Reese, Kole, Chase, Kieran, Alexis, Brock, Lily, Damien, Terrell, Craigen, Aubrey, Mitchell; 5 siblings, Norman (Betty) Ewing, Russell (Daisy) Ewing, Walt (Lilly) Ewing, Paul Ewing, Velma (Ken) Allen; and many other family members and friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 56 years, Marie, two siblings, Frank and Doris, son-in-law, David, sisters-in-law, Joanne and Pat, brother-in-law, Lee.
