Obituary of Gerald Wayne Carlson

Of Flushing, age 77, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Avalon Hospice. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Gerald's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and again from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Gerald was born October 16, 1935 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar and Laura (Lewis) Carlson. He and Joyce Hayes were united in marriage on October 27, 1962. Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 4, 2004. Gerald worked for General Motors as a Truck Driver for over 30 years and, in his free time, enjoyed golfing and fixing up classic cars. Left to cherish his memory are; son, Gerald Wayne Carlson, Jr.; grandsons, Gerald Wayne Carlson, III and James Fitzpatrick Carlson; two brothers, Robert and wife, Jackie Carlson and Ken and wife, Beth Carlson; two sisters, Nancy and husband, Ron Brownrigg and Shirley and husband, Ken Swidorski, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, wife Joyce Marie Carlson, daughter, Traci Marie Carlson and several brothers and sisters.
