Obituary of Jack Byrd

Of Flint, age 67, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Sister Judy Blake will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 10:00am until 2:00pm and 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jack was born February 16, 1942 in Sacramento, California, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Barton and Dorothy (Schlaefli) Byrd. He and Edith Stevens were united in marriage January 31, 1969 in Flint; they were married for 41 years. Jack proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from the City of Flint Water Pollution Control after 25 years. He will be missed for being mischievous, comical, and a teller of tales. Jack leaves to cherish his memory wife, Edith; daughters, Lisa Marie, Laura Anne and husband, David Pilkey; brothers, Darryl and wife, Vikki, Roger and Goldie; many brother- and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews; best buddies, Hannah and Willow. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stephen; in-laws, Charles and Marie Stevens, Mary Meadows (Meemaw); brother-in-law, Bill Stevens, best friend, John Erity; buddies, Beau and Scrappy.
