Obituary of James C. Proffer

Of Vassar, age 63, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center - Harrison. The memorial service will take place 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Pastor Tyson Ferguson will officiate with burial to follow in Tuscola Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jim was born November 5, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Telford and Gertrude (Stoley) Proffer. He and Nancy McKee were united in marriage November 9, 1968. Left to cherish his memory is wife, Nancy; two children, Jennifer Marlow and Christopher Hopper and Craig and wife, Stacy Proffer; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, James, Tyler and Lucas; brother, Ted and wife, Grace Proffer; sisters, Hilda Schantz,Esther Mae Thomas, Ann Proffer, and Sally and husband, Bill Ewing; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Lorne Thomas.
