Obituary of Paul J. Scott

Of Mt. Morris, age 85, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Goodman Cox will officiate; burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post # 158. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm and on Monday, 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Paul was born December 5, 1927, in Hickman, Kentucky the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Deannie (Bailey) Scott. He and Carrie L. Davidson were united in marriage April 10, 1948. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of UAW # 326 for more than 20 years and served as Vice President of Local #326. Paul earned the Walter Ruther Award for his time in the Union. He retired in 1991, after 36 years with General Motors, working at Fisher Body (Turnstedt) on Coldwater Road, which has since been demolished. Left to cherish his memory are wife of 65 years, Carrie; children, Brenda O'Brien, Patty (John) Plunkey, Peggy (Marty) Nolff, Paul W. Scott, and Joann (Steve) Goff; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and four sisters.
