Obituary of Eleanor M. Skower

Of Vassar, age 90, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Meadow View Manor. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church on Wednesday, from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church Debt Retirement Fund. Envelopes are available at the church. Eleanor was born September 8, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and Margaret (Rankin) Woodburn. She and Joseph Skower were united in marriage August 22, 1942, in Hazel Park, Michigan. Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory son, Jim and wife, Norma Skower of Vassar and their children, Renee and husband, Mike Griffin of Oak Park, IL, Lesley and husband, Mike Kornacki of Cadillac, and Angela Skower of Vassar; five grandchildren, Allyson, Evan and Andrew Kornacki, Alex and Henry Griffin; sister-in-law, Patricia King, of Vassar; brother-in-law, Frank and wife Janet Going, of Grand Rapids; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Skower Sr., son, Joe Skower Jr., and sisters, Nancy Culling and Margaret Hall. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff and Caregivers at Meadowview Manor in Saginaw.
