Obituary of Lorna J. Covert

Age 61, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, January 27, 2006 at the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. It was Lornaas desire that her body be donated to anatomical study. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Jim Rupert, pastor will officiate. Lornaas family will be present to receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Lorna was born August 14, 1944 in Flint to Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Imogene (Updyke) Covert. As a young woman she served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. She retired from a long and diverse career with GM in 2000. Lorna gave selflessly to many friends both young and old and enriched the lives of her many surrogate children and grandchildren. Her many passions in life include nature walks, bird watching, flower gardening and writing poetry. Lorna was a member of the Flint Poetry Club. She loved to sing and celebrate with her loved ones. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joel Scott and wife Ann-Renee Covert, two grandsons, Daniel and Jacob Covert, two brothers, Bill and Kathy Covert and Dennis and Linda Covert, sister, Sandra Creed, sister-in-law, Mary Helen Covert, special friends, Ella and Donny Delduca and their family, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mike and Roger.
