Obituary of Lawrence Andrew Mathews

Of Caro, age 51, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home. Cremation has taken with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Oasis of Love Family Worship Center in Reese on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Lawrence was born September 3, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Genevieve (Ciupak) Mathews. He graduated from Vassar High School class of 1980 and attended college and received his diesel mechanic's certification. Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Sharon (Morey) Ziegler were united in marriage August 11, 2004 in Lake, Michigan. Left to cherish his memory are wife Sharon; mother Genevieve Mathews; children; Ashley Mathews, David May, Misty and Alisha Thompson, Charlene Johnson and Ryan Ziegler; grandchildren; Cody, Lane, Shane, Esperanza, Tasia, Heavensent, Teagan, Patience, Justice, Brayden, Peyton and Aaliyah; brothers and sisters Edward (Carol) Mathews, John (Lynn) Mathews, Patricia (Burt) Ward, Loretta (Leeland) Audinet, Timothy Mathews, Henrietta Young, Claudia (Tom) Briggs, and Gail Mathews; and many friends, nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his father Edward Mathews in 1978, sister Evelyn Knight, brother Michael Mathews, and niece Nicole Briggs.
