Obituary of Raymond H. Shanks

Age 90, of Mt. Morris, died at home on Monday, June 17, 2013. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday at the Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services. Pastor Gerald Hodgeson will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be considered to Richfield Road Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice. Ray was born March 30, 1923 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. And Mrs. Raymond and Helen (Hermesch) Shanks. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Ray and Patricia Titmus were united in marriage on June 15, 1946, in Flint. Ray worked at Chevy in the Hole for 33 years, was a member of the UAW #659 and retired in 1979. He was an active member of the Richfield Road Baptist Church for many years. Ray was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. Left to cherish his memory are three children, Larry and wife, Susan Shanks, Rick and wife, Beverly Shanks and Beth and husband, John Goode, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Madden, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
