Obituary of Geneva May Horwath

Of Vassar, age 70, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at her home. The memorial service will take place 12:00pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the LifeLine Victory Center in Vassar. Pastor Wally Reames will officiate. Geneva's family will be present at church from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the LifeLine Victory Center-Youth Group or to Hospice of Hope. Envelopes are available at the church. Geneva was born May 8, 1943, in Tuscola Township, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon and Wilhelmina (Hyslop) Colman. She and John Horwath were united in marriage June 27, 1964. She was a Librarian for Townsend North Elementary School, Crossing Guard, Teacher's Aide, Cashier at Vans, and a Farmer's Daughter. Geneva loved to hand candy out to the children at church, she was known as "The Candy Lady," spending time with family and friends, puzzle books and playing cards especially Rummy and Solitaire. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Rae (Mike) Hadd and Michael (Chong) Horwath; seven grandchildren, Adam (Erin) Hadd, Evan Hadd, Josh and Jasper Horwath, Jeremy Hall, Keisha James, Mark James and Christopher James; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis, Alana and Aniya; three siblings, Marie (Luther) Stewart, Marge (Ron) Stange, and Rex (Joyce) Colman, special friends and caregivers, Penny Germain and Ruth Maguire, her cat Squeakers and many other family members and friends. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, step-grandson Christopher James.
