Obituary of Lance Lavigne

Age 75, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Monday, May 5, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with cremation to follow. Lance's family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris; to receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Sunday afternoon, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary Service at 2:00 pm. On Monday Lance will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Lance "Lanny" was born January 14, 1939, in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William & Wahnetah (Van Norman) Lavigne. Lance married Gloria Larkin on November 30, 1968, in Mt. Morris. Lanny proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years as a Military Policeman until receiving his honorable discharge on October 2, 1964 in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Lanny worked at General Motors for 15 years until his retirement in the early 1980's and was a member of UAW Local #599. In his spare time, Lanny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, hunting and fishing and traveling up north to Rose City. Left to cherish his memory are, his wife Gloria; 10 children, Brian (Carolyn) Fredericks, Chris (JoAnn) Fredericks, Roger (Kathy) Fredericks, Alicia Fredericks, Vicky (Ron) Fossett, Angie Weyerman, Lanny II, (Julie) Lavigne, Mary (Bill) Ayotte, Gary Lavigne, Jennifer (Kurt) Sherwood; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Garth "Pork" Lavigne; Lance was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and his son Neil "Bean".
