Obituary of Russell Earl Ferris

FERRIS. Russell age 90 of Mt. Morris died Monday, May 22, 2006 at Avalon Hospice in Flint, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris with burial following in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. \ \ Russell was born on January 7, 1916 in Traverse City, Michigan son of Mr. & Mrs. Fred and Anna (Wood) Ferris. He and Genevieve Rutkowski were united in marriage on April 29, 1939 in Flint, Michigan. Russell worked for B.O.C. Gasses and retired in 1982 with thirty-six years of service. \ \ Russell enjoyed hunting and fishing. He later became an avid woodcarver of waterfowl and songbirds. His passion became his house on Burt Lake. He was a life member of The American Welding Society and member of The Tri-County Woodcarvers Association.\ \ Surviving are his wife of 67years, Genevieve; three children, Judith and husband Jack Eder of Atlanta, GA., Linda Ferris of Ann Arbor, Lee and wife Kathy Ferris of Montrose; three grandchildren, Brad Leix, Paul Meeker and Roxanne Burke; and eight great grandchildren.\ \ Russell was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bertha Brisson. \
