Age 93, of Ithaca and Mt. Morris, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. The funeral service is scheduled 11:00 am, Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Ethel's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family's wishes. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ethel Slomo was born February 16, 1921, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George & Mamie (Warren) Lowell. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Left to cherish her memory, five children, Pearl Lessard, Sharon (Joe) Foushee, Janet (George) Ellis, Michael Turpin and Barbara (Charles) Melcher; her brother, Harold (Betty) Lowell; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; eight brothers, George, Charles, Kenneth, Art, Clarence, Harvey, Walt and Edward.
