Obituary of Alice Winnifred Franklin

Age 94, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday, May 14, 2014, at Home Style Living in Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday May 17, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Saturday, Winnie will be taken to church to lie in state from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Winnie was born May 20, 1919, in Ethel, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Bertha (Cole) Hall. Upon graduating from Otisville High School in 1942, she would go on to Hurley School of Nursing and graduate as a Registered Nurse. Winnie worked for Dr. Pfeiffer in Mt. Morris, for many years. Winnie married Allen Franklin on June 19, 1946, at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. She and Allen remained active members at the church for their entire life. Left to cherish her memory are two children, Nelson and wife, Robin Franklin and Sharon Kline; several nieces; nephews; and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; son-in-law, Robert; and sister, Rosemary Cooper. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Heartland Hospice and the Burton Senior Center for all their love and care.
