Of Mt. Morris, age 82 died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at her home. Funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Eugene Proffitt officiating. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 11am Saturday until time of service at 1pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Irene was born December 23, 1923 in Valley Creek, TN the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Sadie (Nichols) Proffitt. She and Glenn Massey were united in marriage in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1977. Surviving are son Charles Douglas of WV; Granddaughter Melissa of LosAngeles, CA; 2 great grandchildren; sister Judie and husband Jerry Maestaz of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; dear friend Wanda Burris of Mt. Morris.
