Obituary of Freddie Broughton

Of Mt. Morris, age 82, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm, Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the American Legion Post #64 G-4314 W. Carpenter Rd., Flint, MI 48504; with Military Honors to be conducted.
Freddie was born November 23, 1930, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Juliet (Balius) Broughton. After graduating High School, Freddie proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He received his Honorable Discharge on November 25, 1953. Freddie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing. He was a long time member of the Clio Country Club,VFW Post #2777, American Legion Post #64 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Left to cherish his memory are, daughter Belinda Broughton; six grandchildren: Jamie Marie Broughton, Jason Broughton, Richard Arceneaux, Jessica Kenton, Sami Broughton and Caleb Wilson; four great-grandchildren: Antonio Boedecker, Alisiya Boedecker, Olivia Kenton and Annalise ; two siblings: Betty (Carl) Christensen and Jerry (Bonnie) Broughton.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, son Samuel Goodyear Broughton, granddaughter Sarah Lynn Kenton, sister Doris Roesner and brother-in-law Charles Roesner and his brother Gary Lee Broughton.
