Obituary of Charlie L. Matthews

Of Avon Park Florida, formerly of Genesee, age 86, died Saturday, December 21, 2013. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with cremation to follow. Charlie's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 28, 2013, from 11:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Charlie was born September 12, 1927, in Riverton Twp. Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard and Zela (Stickney) Matthews. Charlie proudly served in the United States Army serving in WWII and the Korean War. Charlie worked for Complete Auto Transit and Jones Transfer. Charlie was known for being able to make a friend where ever he went. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren, he was an avid fisherman, made custom fishing poles and loved watching NASCAR. Left to cherish his memory are, his daughters, Linda (Loyd) Kilbourne, Sherry (Choya) Horton, Vicki (Don) Little, Deborah Matthews, Nancy (Dave) Pollock, Brenda (Dave) Dinnan; brother, John Matthews; sister Mary (George) Lawrence; 11 grandchildren, Tina, Tamara, Shannon, Dan, Ryan, Drew, Heather, Paul, Mckenzie, Eric and Samantha, and 15 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Madison, Amy, Brett, Cole, Madelyn, Kennedy, Addison, Avery, Damien, Bryce, Emma, Trenton, Carter and Cooper; special friend Ellen Cummings and many fishing buddies. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia Ann and wife Lou and his brother Robert.
