Of Mt. Morris, age 77, died Monday, October 1, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mount Morris, Pastor David Burkett will officiate. Family will greet friends and loved ones from12:00 noon until 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.\

James was born June 17, 1930 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Evelyn (Ferrell) Newsome. He worked at GM Ternstead for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Moose Lodge # 1437, American Legion, VFW in Avon Park, FL and the Clio Eagles. He enjoyed football, vacationing in Florida and Las Vegas, and being with family and friends.\

Those left to cherish his memory are his close friend Jean Cook of Flushing, sisters; Betty Bledsoe, Joann Brintle and nieces and nephews of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, lifetime friend Fred Deaver, Judy (Mike) Miljan, Rodney (Mary) Dorff, Sheri (Sam) Aguilar, Kevin Dorff, Wanda (Joe) Plummer, Lee Ann Brooks, nieces, nephews and many friends.\

He was preceded in death by Raymond and Evelyn (Ferrell) Newsome and wife Pearl.\
