Obituary of Nancy Selma Brooks

Of Clio, passed away on January 25, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Nancy's family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Cremation, & Tribute Service in Mt. Morris on Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and again from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Friday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Nancy will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Nancy was born in Standish, Michigan, on February 15, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Martha (Marquardt) Peltier. After graduating from Standish High School, she attended Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan. She then was hired at Hurley Medical Center, retiring after 30 years of service in 1992. Soon after graduating from Hurley, Nancy met, fell in love, and married Gerald Brooks on January 26, 1957.  Nancy was a fantastic cook known for her baked beans, coleslaw, and ice cream cakes. She loved nothing more than cooking for her family and sitting around the table visiting with friends and relatives. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family cabin on Sand Lake. Nancy was a long-time member of the Altar Society and a devout Catholic who attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flint and St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt Morris.  
 

Nancy is survived by her four children: Greg, and wife Robin Brooks, Scott Brooks, Craig, and wife Dawn Brooks, and Michelle Brooks; grandchildren: Patrick, Christopher, Elizabeth, Melissa, and fiance Tony, Kaydie, and husband Doug, Kevin, and girlfriend Jessi, Katie, and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren: Emery, Weston, Sidney, Jayden, Gabby, Avery, Alivia, Evelyn, Nora, and Jackson: sisters: Lois and Caroline.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; brother, Bob; and sister, Jean.
