I can't wrap my mind around the fact we are coming up on ten years without you. I just miss you so much, not a day goes by that you don't cross my mind. I miss hearing you sing, and your jokes, but most of all the way you unconditionally loved.

What a sad day it is to see one of my former students obituaries in the paper...something is just not right about that! After the initial, oh my, how sad for his friends and family, I had to smile as I recall the fun and laughter he brought to all who knew him. As a new teacher I was often challenged by the more verbal, right brained students in my classroom. LeRoy was one of those challenges. Did you know he could recite, verbatim, the entire Cheech and Chong album???? I know, he would do parts of it everyday for the semester he was in my class. You have no idea how hard it was for me NOT to laugh until I cried...he was soooo good. He LOVED to entertain...that meant he didn't have to do his work...what a surprise! I last saw LeRoy at Seth's Open House in Richville...that has been a few years ago. It was sooooo good to see him and hear that great laugh again.I am so very sorry that you have lost such a wonderful part of your family. He gave so much to all who knew him and I am sure you have hundreds of stories to share as he continues to live in all of your hearts. I will never forget this wonderful man. God bless you and be with you at this time of sadness. Much love to all, Lois

You just know that when Lee made his entrance in Heaven, he had a couple of jokes for the Big Guy.\

One of my closest friends during my high school years. The humor, laughter, jokes and good times together. Yes our wonderful performance on the high school football field with Leroy Boy carrying my skinny butt over his shoulder across the field at the half time performance his wonderful rendition of the "his hunting trip with the bear and pictures of the bear" click, click,....stocking those shelves at Vans Market so we could go out driving around, a place to hide in the school to have a break. Only going to school 1/2 days during our Senior year. Bomb fires in Gohsman woods. I also remember Leroy and Larry in the accident, i was there shortly after to witness something very rare, a car cut in half and two classmates sitting in the front seat spared by god. Picking up the Smith Boys and going to the drive- inn, with them in the trunk. My old 1955 pontiac held everyone plus more. Good food from the Smith and Johnson houses. And Ma Hunkins making sure we had enough to eat at school lunch. Getting pulled over every weekend by Freddie Lapratt, wonder what he was looking for. Oh and don't forget Mr. Teller and how Special Leroy and I were. Our great vacation in the UP, in Curtis Michigan, just down from where his parents stayed, we stayed in a tent for two weeks together, now there's stories there to tell, But what happens in the UP stays in the UP. Did you know Leroy could roller skate. Yes Leroy Boy you were one of a kind, you'll be missed by friends and family, but the memories myself and everyone else will be remembered for ever and ever. God now has a new song writer, and your music will live on for ever. God bless Leroys wife, daughter and family.

We were very saddened upon hearing of LeRoy's passing. He was always kind hearted, fun loving and will be dearly missed. I have many fond memories of LeRoy from high school and Kerry from grade school through high school. Larry Martin and I witnessed a miracle as three class mates collided with a tree obliterating their rag top car in numerous pieces. All three were only slightly wounded. LeRoy was catapulted into a muddy field many yards from the point of impact. I can still see the look on his face as he trudged back towards us.\
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. \

We just returned to our home in Virginia from Annapolis today when I received a call from my sister Karen telling me that Lee had gone on to heaven. Robyn, Travis and I send our most heart felt condolences to Donna, Rachel, Shirley, Marilyn, Karen, Cindy and all his extended family. I know you all miss him terribly, as do I. I wish I could have been with you all this weekend. He was a terrific guy and a great friend. We shared so many laughs and hours upon hours of guitar playing it is hard to choose a top ten list of favorite memories. Even though we have been separated by 770 miles for the last 10 years we managed to keep in touch and do some guitar playing. His spirit will live on in the songs he wrote and in the minds of all who knew him. I know that I am a better person for having known him. I think of him every time I listen to Tim McGraw sing "My Old Friend". Our prayers and thoughts will be with you all.\

LeRoy,your sense of humor, laughter and upbeat personality will sorely be missed. I remember the good old days when we worked at Vans together and all of the fun we had. It was never a dull moment and I actually enjoyed getting up and going to work knowing what a fun day I would have. It never seemed like work when you were there. I will miss you my friend.\

LeRoy was one of my best of friends. During our school years we went every where together in a 1961 Pontiac Tempest Station-wagon he called it the "Green Slime", we worked at Van's Market together and attended "Wild Wednesday" concerts at Sherwood Forest in Davidson. There was never a dull moment with a big input of jokes and funny stories from LeRoy. One day as I was going home from school south of Vassar. I was passed by a Mercury Cougar and followed quickly by a GTO going fast. As the GTO pulled beside me there was LeRoy waving from the passenger seat. The GTO went over the hill ahead and out of sight. When I went over the hill seconds later, there was the GTO cut in half and the back half in a million pieces spread all over M-15. LeRoy was out in the corn field and covered with dirt. Later I asked him what happened. He said when the GTO pulled back in the right lane, the car went out of control hitting the tree sideways. On impact with the tree, LeRoy ended up flying 100 feet into the corn field. LeRoy and the other two in the car were very luck that day. We both grew up, got married and went our separate ways. \

We talked mainly by email over the years. He always would flash me back to some screwball thing we did back years ago. He would talk about his wife and daughter. How Donna was doing well at work and all the great things his daughter was doing in school. We visited together just as his daughter was graduating from College. I could tell how very proud he was of all she had accomplished.\

He is one of a kind. A great friend, proud of his family and will be greatly missed. My blessings go out to his family and I will always keep him in our memories.
