Obituary of Marie McQueen-Griffin

Of Millington, age 87, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Bible Baptist Church, G-2378 N. Center Rd. in Burton. Pastor David Miller will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. MarieAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Saturday from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm. On Monday, Marie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bible Baptist Church or Genesys Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Marie was born May 31, 1920 in Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel and Rose (LaClair) McLain. She and Vern McQueen were united in marriage in 1937, he preceded her in death in 1985. She later married Verne Griffin in October of 1986, he also preceded her in death in 1995. Marie was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church and the Bible Baptist Church Golden Age Club. She also enjoyed being active in the Red HatterAaas Club with her seven daughters. Marie also was an avid shopper. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Helen Adkins ( Douglas ) of Columbiaville, Barbara George ( Robert ) of Columbiaville, Margaret Davis ( William ) of Clio,
Dorothy Zinn ( Sam ) of Lapeer, Beverly Zinn (George) of Otisville, Karen Betz ( Larry ) of Millington,
Nancy Springsteen ( Daniel ) of Otisville; 1 sister Margaret McCallister ( Raymond ) of Flint;
2 step daughters, Saundra Johnston and Dianne (Ricky) Myatt; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her loving dog, Chelsie.
Besides her parents and husbands, Marie was preceded in death by her daughter; Lucille,
brothers; Leo McLain, Paul McLain, James McLain and Ernest McLain.
