Of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his home. The Funeral Mass will take place 10:30 am Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring, may consider memorial contributions to DonorAaas Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris 5-9 Wednesday and 12-9 Thursday. Friday morning Robert will be taken to church where friends may call from 9:30am until time of service at 10:30 am. Family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home 6 pm Thursday to pray the Rosary.
Robert was born June 7, 1924 in East Tawas the son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Luella (Green) Ford. He and Grace Bourassa were united in marriage July 13, 1946. She preceded him in death June 9, 2002. Robert worked as District Sales Manager at Grand Truck Railroad for over 38 years. He was a Veteran of WWII. Serving his country in the US Army at the Normandy Landing on his 19th birthday.
Robert was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. He was also a Life Member and Past President of Fraternal Order of Eagles #497 in Saginaw, Past President of Flint and Saginaw Valley Traffic Clubs, Delta New Alpha Transportation Fraternity and a member of VFW Post #1859 in Carrolton.
Robert enjoyed golf, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Children, Mary Ann and husband Gene Buchinger, Francis (Frank) and wife Alicia Ford, Roberta (Bobbie) and husband Donnie Porritt, Rochelle (Shellie) and husband Joseph Smith, William (Bill) and wife Lisa Ford, Grace and husband Garry Davis; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; Special friend Mae.
Preceded in death by his parents James and Luella (Greene) Ford, wife Grace, 2 sons, Russell James (Jimmy) and Robert Lynn, daughter Alma and granddaughter Michelle.
