Of Flint, age 85, fell asleep in death Monday, October 13th , 2008 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Friday, October 17th, at the Miles Martin Funeral Home (1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd., located between Dort Hwy. and Saginaw St.). Brother Jesse Belk will officiate, with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. JoeAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16th, from 11:00am until 8:00pm and again on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may send flowers or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JehovahAaas Witnesses, Attn: AaA"Local Needs,AaA and mailed to the Riverside Park Congregation in c/o: 449 Selkirk Dr., Mt. Morris, MI. 48458. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
Joe was born December 18, 1922 in Enfield, North Carolina the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fox and Leacy (Silver) Evans. He and Almae Lynch were united in marriage on November 8, 1943; she survives him. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working on cars and spending time with his family. He was self-employed as a Master Auto Mechanic for over 50 years and owned Joe and BaldyAaas Garage. He was a dedicated and baptized member of the Riverside Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Joe was also a member of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe of North Carolina.
Joe and AlmaeAaas union would be blessed with thirteen children. Surviving are: Patricia Wilson, Anthony Evans, Keith Evans, Peggy Sethi, Bethany (Michael) Harris, Rhonda Russell, Tawanna (Michael) Morgan and Tarra (Stewart) Cain.
Joe is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one brother: George (Doretha) Evans, many nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by five daughters, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, his parents, seven sisters, and one brother.
