Obituary of Joseph M. Carriveau

Of Durand, previously of Mt. Morris, age 71, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Goodman Cox will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Joseph was born September 21, 1940, in Ossineke, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Helen (Chauvin) Carriveau. He and Shirley Foshee were united in marriage October 26, 1968 in Omer, Michigan. Joe was a truck driver for 32 years for ANR Advance; retiring in 1999. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, woodworking, and his family. Joe will be greatly missed. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 44 years, Shirley; three sons, Toby Carriveau, Darrel Carriveau, and Anthony and wife, Deborah Carriveau; two grandchildren, Jonathon and wife, Olivia Carriveau and Debra and husband, Ryan Atherton; three great-grandchildren, Cristian and Jonathon Carriveau and Kyhra Atherton; six brothers, Robert and wife, Wilma Carriveau, Paul and wife, Ethel Carriveau, Thomas and wife, Sally Carriveau, Earl Carriveau, Gerald and wife, Renata Carriveau, and Harold and wife, Sharon Carriveau; four sisters, Rose Bennett, Carol Ann Hansen, Helen and husband, Jim Grochowski, and Mary and husband, Art Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Carriveau; and four brothers, Alvin, George, Louis, and Irvin Carriveau.
