Of Clio, age 74, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio. Rev. Dr. John Bailey will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Bill's family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris to receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. On Thursday Bill will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Bethany United Methodist Church Bell Choir or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Bill was born October 24, 1937, in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Charlotte (Lakies) Miller. He and Mavis Boyd were united in marriage December 1, 1956. He worked at Michigan Bell for 33 years before retiring. Bill was on the Vienna Township board from 1977 until 1991 and Vienna Township Planning Commission from 1981 until 1991.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mavis; four children; David (Sue) Miller, Dennis (Karen) Miller, Diane Collins and Daniel Miller; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Allen (Lila) Miller; two sisters; Donna Groves and Carrie (Martin) Simek; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was an avid John Deere tractor collector, belonging to Genesee Valley Tractor Collectors Club, Mid-Michigan Antique Machinery Association of Clio and Clio Senior Center.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jonathon Miller, brother, Vernon Miller.
